Death Today of Mrs. Edith
Mrs. Edith A. Hastings, a life-long resident of Melrose township, died at 8 o'clock this morning at her home, a mile and a half south of the city limits on Twenty-fourth street. Her demise was due to a complication of ailments, from which she had been critically ill for the past month.
Mrs. Hastings was the widow of Andrew Hastings and a daughter of John Reeder, both well known farmers of the county. She lacked but a few days of being 51 years old, and passed her entire lifetime in the neighborhood where she lived.
There are surviving two sons, Curtis and Rodney Hastings, and a daughter, Mrs. Helen Summers, also two brothers and one sister.
The deceased was reared a Methodist and was a member of Melrose chapel. She was a woman of kindly character and her death will be deeply mourned.
