Funeral Services To Be Held Today For J W Holleman
Funeral rites for Mr. John W Holleman, who died early Wednesday morning, will be held this afternoon at 2:30 at Prospect church, burial to be in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Holleman would have celebrated his 86th birthday the 23rd of February, had he lived. His death occurred five weeks to the day after that of his wife and of the same malady, pneumonia. He was ill only a week.
A native of Chickasaw County, Mr. Holleman was the son of the late Alvin Holleman and Nancy Ausley Holleman, who were among the early settlers. He had lived all of his life in this section with the exception of a few years in North Carolina during early manhood.
He was a member of the Baptist Church, joining when young and continuing active until his illness.
He was held in high esteem by his neighbors and other friends.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. J Will Jackson of Sanford, N C, Mrs. Harrison Upshaw and Miss Lura Holleman, of Houston, and a brother, W H Holleman.
Active pallbearers will be Joe Holleman, Hubert Pearson, Dave Jean, Doss Lowry, Elias Weaver, and Osma Baird. Honorary pallbearers are Charles and Bob Holleman, John W Hill, Bates Tabb, Charles Verell, W D Smith, J H Smith, Emmett Ausley, Chester Davis, Henry Harrington, W T Small, and T J Lowry.
