Henry died of disease while in the service at the Regimental Hospital in Columbus, KY. He was in the 136th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, Co. G

Henry is also listed in Haven Hill at findagrave.com as Henry C. Bohnstedt, born 1843, died 1862. This stone is very worn so it would be easy to make a mistake. However the document by his parents when they left Germany to come to America, proves Henry's true birth date and his Civil War papers prove his death.
