Pauline F. Swartz, 85, of 11015 Roxbury Road, Roxbury, died Tuesday night, April 7, at the home of he daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Jacob Corwell, with whom she had resided. Born Oct. 21, 1901, in Roxbury, she was a daughter of the late Simon P. and Estella Killinger Gamber. She was the widow of Carl R. Swartz, who died in June 1944. Mrs. Swartz had attended Roxbury United Methodist Church. She retired from Howard Johnson's Restaurant at Blue Mountain Plaza on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, where she had worked since it opened in 1941. Mrs. Swartz was a member of Oscar Hykes post 223 American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by three daughters and four sons, Mrs. George (Beatrice) Hartman, 504 Jefferson Ave., Cheltenham, Clifford W. Swartz Sr. 3463 Orrstown Road, Orrstown, Mrs. Galen (Genevieve) Porter, 145 Park Place East, Shippensburg, Frank O. Swartz, 3262 Orrstown Road, Orrstown, John W. Swartz Sr., 905 Clearfield Road, Shippensburg, Mrs. Jacob (Patricia) Corwell, 11015 Roxbury Road, Roxbury, and Ray A. Swartz, 15587 Cumberland Highway, Newburg; two sisters, Mrs. Zora Cummings, Hostetter Avenue, Shippensburg, and Mrs. Pearl Horne, Forge Hill Road, Shippensburg; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a daughter and a son, Faye Irene Swartz and Joseph Carl Swartz. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Fogelsanger Funeral Home, 112 W. King St., Shippensburg, with the Rev. Preston L. Haugh officiating. Friends and relatives will be received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in Newville Cemetery. Contributions in memory of Mrs. Swartz may be made to the American Cancer Society, Franklin County Unit, 225 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201
