Donald Ray Byrd, 67, of Laurel, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at his home. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Chapel of Memory Chapel in Laurel. Burial will follow in Springhill Cemetery. Rev. Harold Holifield will officiate. He was a member of Calhoun Baptist Church. Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Dora Byrd; four brothers, Wilburn Byrd, Orion Byrd, Kenneth Byrd, and Joe Byrd; three sisters, Gracie Martin, Minnie Ree Hinton, and Dorothy Temple. He is survived by two brothers, Darrell Byrd and Gordon Byrd, both of Laurel; and three sisters, Essie Lee Gatewood of Soso, and Daisy Sharp and Helen Sullivan, both of Laurel. Pallbearers will be Kyle Gibson, Shane Byrd, Lewis Sullivan, Timothy Sullivan, Earl Byrd, Richard Holifield. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Rogers, Kiphyn Byrd, Philip Byrd, Don Williams, Bilbo Flynt, and Walt Byrd. Visitation will be today at 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Memory Chapel Funeral Home in Laurel, which is in charge of the arrangements.
