Aurora (Davis) Wayman was the daughter of Jacob James Davis and Mary Etta Tate Riley. She lived in South Dakota during her early years, moving to Iowa in 1920. She graduated from Manson High School in Manson, Iowa in 1925. She started teaching in a rural school in Calhoun County, Iowa that fall and taught there for five years. She married Vernon "Tubby" Wayman at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Chickasaw County, Iowa on 22 May 1929. They moved to Benton County, Iowa where they lived for four years, then moved to Elberon, Iowa where she taught at the Elberon Junior High School for eight years. They moved to Washington state in 1958, where she taught at the Orondo School for 16 years and was principle there from 1964 until her retirement in 1974. She had worked as a volunteer at the Deaconess Hospital and the Central Washington Hospital, and then at Parkside Rehab and Care Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Washington Education Association.
