John Henry Holt II, son of Dr. William Joseph Holt and the former Mary Elizabeth Dugas, was born August 27th 1873 in Montgomery, Alabama. John was their youngest of four children.
John was the namesake of his father's brother, Col. John Henry Holt, who was wounded during the Battle of Chickamauga and dead of complications several weeks later in October 1863.
John Henry was a Patent Attorney in Washington, D.C.; where he lived most of his adult life with his older sister, Mary Louisa.
John Henry Holt II, departed this life on the the 7th of February 1918 in Washington at the age of 44 years old. He was laid to rest in the Holt Family plot alongside his parents and all of his brothers and sister.
