John A. Farris
John Allon Farris, 2623 Rosemond Rd., Dallas, died Monday in the Southeast Methodist Hospital in Dallas after a lengthy illness.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel of Gene Roden's Sons, Directors of Funerals. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.
Mr. Farris was born July 1, 1914 in Tigertown, a son of John Franklin and Ora Briggs Farris. He married Virginia Whitten Oct. 29, 1938. He was a graduate of Paris High School and the Hemphill Diesel School in Memphis, Tenn. He later attended Southern Methodist University. He worked for several construction companies after moving to Dallas in 1941. he retired from Hertz Equipment Rental of Dallas in 1976. He was a member of the Dallas Baptist Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Virginia Farris, Dallas; two sons, John Fred Farris and David Allon Farris both of Mesquite; two sisters, Mrs. Delbert Pearson* of Paris and Mrs. Ray Bartlett** of Athens; one uncle, L.N. Farris of Gracemont, Okla; and seven grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 7 p.m. until 8 p.m.
