Death Claims Mayor of Mendon Town, Mendon— Henry Bartlett, 69 died early this morning at a Logan hospital following a short illness. He was born February 17th, 1896, in Swan Lake, Idaho, a son of William and Alice Hughes Bartlett. He married Marvel Hancock on April 7th, 1920. A member of the Mendon L.D.S. Ward, he had attended school in Mendon and Utah State University. Mr. Bartlett was a veteran of World War I and a member of American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Before retirement he was a farmer and had been employed as a guard at the Utah General Depot for ten years. During World War II he served as a guard for the Southern Pacific Railroad. He had served on the Mendon City Council, was city Marshall and at the time of his death was serving as mayor of Mendon. Surviving are his widow, a son Ross A. Bartlett, both of Mendon; a daughter, Mrs. Frank (Dells) Hadley, Plain City; a son, Grant H. Bartlett, Salt Lake City; six grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Edgar (Nellie) Hancock, Mendon. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at twelve noon in the Logan L.D.S. Stake Center, First South and Fourth West, by Bishop Fred W. Sorensen of the Mendon Ward. Friends may call at Hall Mortuary Thursday from seven to nine p.m. and Friday after ten a.m. Burial will be in Mendon City Cemetery. ~The Herald Journal, October 5th, 1965, page 1.
