Jimmy Lew Bales, 72, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005 at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He was born in Goodnight, Okla., on March 16, 1933, to Delbert and Orpha (Reynolds) Bales. Jimmy served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On Aug. 15, 1956, he married Bonnie Curtis and had 49 wonderful years together. They moved to Yukon in 1972 and became members of the United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd. He worked at Tinker Air Force Base for 36 years until his retirement in 1990.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors are his wife, Bonnie of the home; a son, Terry L. Bales and wife, CeCe of Anchorage, Alaska; two daughters, Kelly Gatz and husband, Cliff of El Reno and Renee Hall and husband, Ken of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Otis Bales and wife, Mary Jane of Stillwater and Donald Bales and wife, Celeste of Hot Springs, Ark.; sister, Maxine Hinkle of Edmond; eight grandchildren, Trisha Matheson, Pvt. 1st Class Craig Bales USMC, Megan Bales, Sonja Denwalt, Brian Gatz, Matthew Hall, Kendra Hall and Cori Hall; and one great-grandchild, Bailey Denwalt.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation for Lung Research, 825 NE 13th St., Oklahoma City, Okla. 73104-5097 or United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd, 10928 SW 15th, Yukon, Okla.
Services were held Saturday, Dec. 10, 2005, at United Methodist Church of the Good Shepherd in Yukon. Burial was in Sunset Memorial Gardens in Stillwater. Arrangements were under the direction of Yanda and Son Funeral Home, Yukon.
