Sumner Lee Bossler Sr., of Page Street, Unadilla, N.Y., passed away peacefully Thursday, December 30, 2004, at his residences. He was born September 29, 1943 in Bethlehem, Pa., the son of Sumner Frank and Jean Schick Bossler. On August 25, 1986 he married Marjorie Eldred Marshall. Lee was a graduate of the East Stroudsburg Teacher College in East Stroudsburg, Pa., and obtained his Master's Degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He also attended Hamilton College, Wells College, University of Oregon, Catholic University of America, and the State University of New York at Oneonta and Binghamton. Lee was a teacher at the Unatego Junior-Senior High School with 39 years experience. He retired June 30, 2004. He was also a Real Estate Broker with Realty U.S.A. of Sidney, New York, for over the past 24 years. Lee was a longtime member and a past president of the Unadilla Rotary Club. He was the student exchange program coordinator for the club. He was also a member of the Sidney Lodge # 2175 BPOE, New York Teacher Association and numerous realty organizations. Mr. Bossler served his Unadilla community as its Mayor. He is survived by his wife, Marjorie Marshall Bossler, Unadilla, N.Y.; son and daughter-in-law, Lt. Commander Sumner Lee and Tamara Bossler, Jr., Rockville, Md.; daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Daniel Cassidy, Frederick, Md.; mother, Jean Bossler, St. Petersburg, Fla.; stepson and his wife, Kenneth R. and Sally Marshall, Frederick, Md.; stepdaughter and her husband, Jenny and Mark Thompson, Frederick, Md.; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Will Ann and Jacob Frederick, New Harmony, Ind., Jeannie and Lloyd Colio, Annandale, Va. Also surviving are seven grandchildren, one great-grandson, a nephew, and several cousins.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, January 3, 2005, from St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Bainbridge, N.Y. with the Rev. Linda King Watkins, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Laurelwood Cemetery, Stroudsburg, Pa. Memorial gifts in his name may be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 1406 Monroe Street, Endicott, N.Y. 13760 or to the Catskill Area Hospice, 542 Main Street, Oneonta, N.Y. 13820. Arrangements are under the direction of the C.H. Landers Funeral Chapel, 21 Main Street, Sidney, N.Y. 13838.
