George Daniel was the Postal Inspector in Charge of the Denver, CO division. He drowned while on official duty when the car in which he was a passenger plunged into a flooded stream near Ogden, UT. He was survived by his wife and two daughters.
"George Daniel of Denver, Colorado, formerly of Marshall, Arkansas was killed by an overturning auto at Logan, Utah last Tuesday. George Daniel has been a useful man. He grew to manhood on a little farm 7AE miles east of Marshall, Arkansas. He is a son of Uncle Bill and Aunt Lavina Daniel of Leslie, and a brother of Dr. S. G. Daniel of Marshall.
Having known him from boyhood we never knew a single thing in his life to cause one any regret. His examples in life will ever prove of value to we who remain.
He began his career in the public schools of Searcy County having taught at St. Joe and Marshall. He ascended the ladder of promotion, until at the time of his death, he was Chief Post Office Inspector of the Denver Division, He served for seven years in the US Sea Post Service on board a ship carrying mail from the US to Europe. He made 90 round trips which would make 180 times across the Atlantic Ocean.
Dr. S. G. Daniel left Marshall Wednesday to be at the funeral which will be Saturday, September 6. The deceased had been a Mason from the time he was twenty-one years of age and he would have been sixty years old in October. He will be buried with Masonic honors in Denver, the city of his home.
The people of Searcy county will hear of his death with great regret, the people of Denver will feel the loss of this good man keenly and the US Post Office Department will be crippled by his being taken from it, but "Thus saith the Lord>""
