Mustered Feb. 18, 1862 for 3 years at age 18.
Killed June 14, 1864 on the skirmish line ----; veteran.
3rd Brigade, 1st Division, 14th Army Corps.
Orig. bur. NE of Pine Mt. in a group of 6 graves in 2 rows. West row: Bliss, Delap. East row: Berry, Unknown, 2 Unknowns taken up by relatives.
James Berry is not in the VA Grave Locator. But he is buried next to A G Delap in H-8613.
The Ohio Roster Roll of Honor has James Berry listed as buried in Chattanooga, but that is not correct. The VA Grave Locator has a Jacob Bevy in H-8614. I did not find a Jacob Bevy in CWSS. There is a James T. Bevy, 2nd Regiment, Missouri Light Artillery with an Alt name of James T. Berry. This is the only Bevy in CWSS. Because of the original field burial record, this grave is more likely James Berry, 74th Ohio.
