Mildred "Millie" Bast

Marine - Mldred R. "Millie" Bast, 87, died Friday, March 31, 2006. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home and will continue from 9 a.m. until services at 11 a.m. Tuesday at United Church of Christ, both in Marine. Burial will be at Marine Cemetery.

Marriage Announcement from Edwardsville Intelligencer, 12/30/1941:

Redford-Bast Nuptials.

Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock Miss Mildqred [sic] Redford, daughter of Mrs. Ray Redford of Marine, was united in marriage with Wilbur Bast, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Bast of Edwardsville, at the Marine Evangelical Church by Rev. A.C. Kuehn, in the presence of relatives and friends. The bride was given in marrige by her grandfather, William Redford. Miss Ottilie Gehrs presided at the organ and played Lohengrin's Wedding March. Miss Ruth Reinhart sang "I Love You Truly."

The attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Charles Willmann of Highland, sister and brother-in-law of the bride, and Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Locs of Marine, sister and brother-in-law of the bridegroom.

The bride was attired in a gown of brocaded taffeta made in princess lines with sweetheart neckline and puffed sleeves and a fingertip veil trimmed with lace. She carried a bouquet of white bridal roses. The attendants wore dresses of blue and pink brocaded taffeta and each carried bouquets of talisman roses.

A wedding supper was served at the home of the bride to immediate relatives. A reception was held that evening for friends and relatives. The couple will make their home for the present with the bride's mother. The groom is employed at the Western Carthridge Company at East Alton.
