Gladys was the daughter of H.F. and Nina Fowler Richmond. She married Forrest on June 6, 1928, in Henry County, Ohio. They had one daughter, Roberta Louise, born on March 15, 1930. Gladys attended for two years and earned a teaching degree from Bowling Green University. Her first teaching job was in a one-room schoolhouse. She later worked in the library and taught various grades at the Deshler School, for many years. Forrest died in January 1956. Her daughter married Alan Fothergill in 1952. They had four children. Gladys lived long enough to meet six great-grandchildren.
