|Birth: ||Dec. 9, 1841|
New York, USA
|Death: ||Apr. 27, 1935|
Son of Ethen Warren and Sally Willis.
Husband of Mary Elizabeth Franklin, with whom he had 3 known children: Bradish Franklin, Isaac Newton, and Bessie Belford Warren.
Civil War soldier. Applied for a pension on 9 Mar 1907.
Chauncey and Mary were pioneers of Dillon, CO., where they appear in the 1920 Census. She returned to Vermont shortly thereafter (reason unknown) and died at Fair Haven, Rutland, VT, on Dec. 1, 1921. Chauncey remained in Colorado, where he appeares in the 1930 census, living with his daughter Bessie and her husband, Ira Blundell.
Note: "Mary Franklin of Whitehall, NY" married Lyman Jackson Warren in Rutland, Rutland, VT, on Jan. 14, 1863. (Vermont VR and church records.) Several published genealogies give this as the marriage date for Mary Elizabeth Franklin and Chauncey C. Warren, and this appears to be incorrect. However, Lyman Jackson Warren married (second?) Elizabeth Egery a year after his purported marriage to Mary Franklin, so perhaps there was a mix-up in the records, or the marriage was annulled and Mary then married Chauncey, or some other explanation for the confusion.
"The original Dillon Cemetery was established in 1885 with a gift of 53.5 acres of land by pioneer Chauncey Warren. Warren had a stable and hotel in Dillon, served as mayor and was the patriarch of a large and distinguished family. He was interred in the first cemetery, then later in this second one. The original cemetery was the only graveyard patented under federal law, its patent signed June 30, 1901 by President McKinley."
