Bio for Cyrus

Born January 22, 1815 in Morris Twp., Greene, Pennsylvania. Parents: William Winget and Sarah Elizabeth Lindley. Moved to Chester Twp., Knox, Ohio in 1820, age 5. Moved to Burton Twp., Adams, Illinois in 1839, age 24. Convert to LDS Church about 1840, age 25. He was the only member of his parent's family to join the LDS Church. Cooper by trade and also a farmer.

Married Catherine Hulet April 7, 1841, age 26, in Illinois. Worked on the Nauvoo Temple. Received his endowment February 7, 1846, in the last session on the last day endowments were given.

Crossed the plains to the Salt Lake Valley in 1847, age 32. Saw the miracle of the seagulls and crickets in 1848. Helped settle Springville in 1850. He owned a good farm and house.

Moved to Cedar City November 1853. Died in Cedar City January 14, 1854, age 39, from pneumonia. Now he is buried in the Monroe City Cemetery on the right side of his beloved wife. He has no grave marker. We do not know the story of his burial in Monroe. We do not have a photo of him.

Father of seven children: Zenos, Melvina, Alphonzo, Fidelia, Cyrus, Elvira, Delight, and Catherine Elizabeth.
