Jason Davis (1914 - 2009)

JASON DAVIS, a native of Lamar County, Mississippi, passed away October 28, 2009 at the age of 95.

Born to Albert and Sally(Snelgrove) Davis on February 10, 1914, he moved to Arizona in 1956 where he learned to love the outdoors; enjoying hunting and fishing. He also loved the game of baseball and enjoyed following the Arizona Diamondbacks.

He was employed as a Hoist Operator at San Manuel Mining Co(later became BHP) and was a resident of Mammoth, AZ for many years.

He was preceeded in death by his parents and his wife: Avery.

He is survived by his daughter: Eva of Tucson, AZ, Sons: Willie(Nancy) of Show Low, Az, Norman(Judy) and Bobby of Mammoth, AZ, and Fletcher(Sandra) of Globe, AZ, a brother: Neal(Rachel) of Houston, TX, 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be Tuesday, Nov. 3rd from 12:00 Noon to 1:00 PM with Funeral Services following at 1:00PM at the Trinity Baptist Church, Hagen St., in Globe. Interment will follow at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens, Highway 60, in Miami, AZ. Pastor Hugh Minefee will officiate.

Mr. Jason Davis, 95, of Mammoth, Ariz., passed away on Oct. 28, 2009 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Tucson, Ariz. He was born in Lamar County, Miss. on Feb. 10, 1914, the son of Albert and Sally Davis.

He lived in Arizona for 53 years after moving from Mississippi. He worked for the San Manuel Mining Co. as a hoist operator. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, and hunting. He loved baseball and was a big fan of the Diamondbacks.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Avery Davis. Jason is survived by his children, Eva M. Koehler of Tucson, Willie J. Davis (Nancy) of Show Low, A. Norman Davis (Judy), and Bobby W. Davis, both of Mammoth, and Fletcher L. Davis of Globe; his brother, Neal Davis (Rachel) of Houston, Texas; 17 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation was at noon on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church. Funeral services were at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009 at Trinity Baptist Church.

Interment will follow at Mountain Breeze Memorial Gardens in Miami, Ariz.

Lamont Mortuary of Globe assisted the family.
