J.H. ATCHISON DIES-Had been in ill health for over a year; Funeral Monday Afternoon in Osage City.

John Henry Atchison, lovingly known as Hank, son of Mrs. Mary L. Atchison, was born in Osage county, August 29, 1904, at Arvonia,Ks, and continued living in this vicinity for several years, later moving to Pant Teg community, until his untimely death August 16, 1941, at is home on the J.C. Lafferty farm 6 miles south of Osage City. He had reached the age of 36 years, 11 months and 8 days. Mr. Atchison was married to Florence C. Gunterman Feb10, 1927 and to this union five children were born, four sons and one daughter, Billie, John, Robert, Charles and Betty Lou.

Henry was a home loving husband and father and make many friends and was always willing to aid those in need of assistance. He suffered ill health a year ago, but regardless of all this, worked hard to fulfill his obligations to his family, but another illness of several weeks duration overtook him and Henry did not have the resistance to win his last battle for life.

Other than his wife and five small children he leaves to mourn his mother, Mrs. Mary L. Atchison of Arvonia, Ks; four sisters and seven brothers, Mrs. John Wimer, Brookfield, Mo; Miss Mary Atchison of Emporia, Ks; Mrs. Tom Moore of Helena, Montana; Mrs. Fred Krueger of Neosho Rapids, Ks; and brothers Wesley of Eskridge, Ks; Joseph, Walter, Louis and Elmer of Arvonia, Ks; Thomas of Canyon City, Colo; and James of Corpus Christi, Texas. He also leaves a host of friends to mourn his death.

Funeral services were held at the Osage City Presbyterian church on Monday, August 18, aat 2:30 o'clock with Rev. Earl O. Harbour officiating.

Mr. Lawrence Standiferd sang three solo numbers and Miss Kathryn Prosser presided at the piano. The remains were laid to rest in the Osage City cemetery.

The pall bearers were Ray Brock, Thomas Anderson, Albert Lafferty, Floyd Peterson, Glen Lafferty and Clifford Mullin.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. F. Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Brooks and son and Charles Gunterman of Leavenworth; Joe Gunterman of Perry, Ks; Mr. and Mrs Wm. Ridinger, Mrs. Jack Nelson, Mrs. Jacob Weisner, Mrs. Bud Burkhardt, Mrs. Frank Benson of Topeka; Otto Kunkel and family of Burlingame; Mr. and Mrs. Will Strickenfinger and son, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ridinger of Scranton; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Shaw, Joseph Gunterman, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kahnt and daughter of Reading; Wesley Atchison and family of Eskridge; Mary Atchison and Frances Krueger of Emporia; Mr. and Mrs Fred Krueger of Neosho Rapids; Mrs. John Wimer and daughters and Walter Gilski of Brookfield, Mo; Mrs Thomas Moore of Helena, Montana.
