Jim Boles, son of Frank and Myrtle Boles, was born July 3, 1914. He was raised in Magnolia, ND. He attended grade school in Buffalo and Wheatland, ND. He graduated from high school in Wheatland. Jim farmed at Absaraka and Wheatland. He married Olga Fingalson from Detroit Lakes, MN. They had two boys, Richard and Jerry. They moved to Lockhart, MN, in 1957 where he continued to farm. He then put the land in soil bank and started another career. He purchased a Caterpillar and started ditching and other Cat work for many years.
Jim was a hard worker and was always first to lend a helping hand if someone needed help. He enjoyed working on the farm, always with a project of one kind or another. If you drove by his farm you would see some of his handy work. A pyramid of huge Steiger tractor tires with a lit red cross on top. If you saw a parade in Ada or Rollag, MN, you probably saw Jim with his F-14 tractor with huge Steiger tires on back. Jim was a "jack of all trades". There wasn't anything he couldn't figure out how to fix. He loved going to auction sales too.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Olga, who died in Nov. 2008; granddaughter, Kari Lee Boles at the age of 9, who died April 10, 1978.
Jim is survived by two sons, Richard (Sandra) Boles of Prior Lake, MN, Jerry (Karen) Boles of Andover, MN; 4 grandchildren, Scott, Lonn, Jeremy, and Jessica and 9 great-grandchildren.
