Tate Sproles was the son of Tom and Jane (Hobbs) Sproles and the husband of Inez Carroll whom he married 23 May 1936 at Wise Co., Va. He was a native of Lee County, Va., and had lived in Kingsport, Tn., most of his life. Sproles was a retired barber and attended Manville Church of God. Survivors included his wife, Inez Carroll Sproles, Kingsport; three sons, Gene Sproles, Kingsport, Kyle Sproles, Tacoma, Wash., and S. Sgt. Thomas Lee Sproles, Ft. Lee, Va.; two sisters, Mrs. Dora Yeary, Bristol, Va., Miss Ida Sproles, Big Stone Gap, Va.; one brother, Clarence (Bud) Sproles, Wise, Va., and seven grandchildren. Pallbearers were: Jessie Carroll, Jack Caroll, William Danna, Cecil Huff, Tommie Herron, Rev. Jessee Swanner. (Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home served the family).
