Killed in action while serving aboard the USS Aulick DD-569, as a result of an air attack in the Leyte Gulf. Recipient of the Purple Heart and Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal

Re-interred at Fort Bliss October 8, 1948. Originally buried Leyte #1, Philippine Islands.
