John A. Aceto, 70 formerly of East Boston, died June 8 at Youville Hospital in Cambridge following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved husband of Bernice Rosen Aceto. He was born in Boston the son of the late Antonio and Lena Mascis Aceto. Mr. Aceto was a retired barber and was the owner and operator of Mr. Johns Barber Shop in Melrose, where he worked for over 30 years. Mostly devoted to his family, he enjoyed spoiling his grandchildren and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed bowling, traveling and the occasional trip to Foxwoods Casino.
Mr. Aceto was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Maldens' VFW Post 639. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Denise Graffeo and her husband Dean of Tewksbury, and Michael Aceto and his wife Linsley of Cape Neddeck, Maine; four grandchildren, two brothers, Frank Aceto of Woburn and Louis Aceto of Somerville; and two sisters, Beatrice Dantona of Wakefield and Cecilla Mazzone of Tewksbury.
His funeral was held Tuesday, June 12, from McLaughlin-Dello Russo Funeral Home, Woburn, followed by a funeral Mass in St. Charles Church, Woburn. Burial was at Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn. Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Aceto's memory to the National Kidney Foundation of Massachusetts, 85 Astor Ave., Suite 2, Norwood, MA 02062.
