Ernie attended school in Shelby and graduated from Columbus High School in 1971. He lived all his life in the Columbus area and worked for many years at Cornhusker Office Supply and most recently worked at Paraclipse. Ernie married Gail Kwapnoski in Columbus on August 11, 1984. Ernie enjoyed spending time with his family and was also an avid sports fan.
