John resided in Farmington, Kent County, Delaware and served as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 38th Troop Carrier Squadron.

He enlisted in the Army on January 8, 1942 in Wilmington, Delaware. He was noted as being Married.

He was "Killed In Action" during the invasion of Normandy, France during World War II.

He served as the Co-Pilot on a glider and was killed upon landing at 4 am during the first hours of the Normandy invasion

John was decorated with the Air Medal and Purple Heart.
