Joyce Vivian Bandy, 84, died Sept. 29, 2005, in Raton. She was born May 7, 1921, in Koehler to Robert L. and Ada Lois (Floyd) Bandy. Joyce was the oldest of nine children. Joyce graduated from the University of New Mexico and taught school in several towns in New Mexico, which included Santa Rosa, Des Moines, Maxwell and Raton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Jimmie Lee and Kenneth Leland, and one sister, Johnnie Mae.
Joyce is survived by two brothers, Robert F. Bandy and wife Evelyn of Amarillo, Texas, Darrell Bandy of Albuquerque, and three sisters, Helen Estes and husband Al of Colorado Springs, Colo., Alice Farnsworth and husband Bob of Denver, and Madeline McClure of Albuquerque. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Oct. 4, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will be Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 10 a.m. in the Chapel of the Alderette-Pomeroy Funeral Home with Rev. Dale Deraad and Rev. Fred Fite officiating. Interment will follow in Fairmont Cemetery.
