Note re headstone:
Originally the grave was marked by a marble kerb but this was removed sometime before March 1960 by the Church who had levelled the area to make a lawn.
In 1960, The Commission applied to the Church for permission to erect a headstone. In September the Vicar agreed to a special memorial near the boundary wall,(the file records it as some 6 yards from the actual grave) which would allow the Church to maintain the grounds.
So, as far back as 1960, The Commission were aware of the actual grave but were not able to erect a headstone on the exact spot after the Private Memorial had been removed.

Note: Grave 104. Actual gravesite lost, hence he is commemorated by Special Memorial
