Farmer in Acton Vicinity Dies
Funeral services for Mark Thomas Cole, 68, have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Smith's Funeral chapel with the Rev. Claire L. Harris of the First Evangelical church of Billings officiating.
Mr. Cole died at 11:25 p.m. Thursday in a Billings hospital with lukemia given as cause of death. He had been ailing for the last six months and had been a patient at the hospital since April 14.
Mr. Cole lived on a farm eight miles northwest of Acton where he had homesteaded since 1910. He first came to Bozeman from Shell City, Mo., in 1908.
He was born Dec. 21, 1878 in Missouri, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Cole. He was married Jan. 8, 1919 at Nevada, Mo., to Kate Ethridge.
Surviving are the widow, a son, Raymond Thomas Cole of Portland, Ore.; two daughters, Mrs. Opal Marie Peters of Vancouver, Wash., and Mrs. Paul Gallagher of Seattle; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Suggs of Eldorado Springs, Mo., and Mrs. Maggie Hill of Kansas City, Mo.; two half-sisters, Mrs. Goldie Barber and Mrs. June Long, both of Oklahoma, and three half-brothers, Joe Cole of Oklahoma and Pete Cole and Arle Cole, whereabouts unknown, and a grandchild.
Burial will be in Mountain Cemetery. The body is at Smith's funeral home.
