Richard B. Feakes (1927-2010), age 82, passed away on Friday Morning, May 14, 2010. He was born in Santa Cruz, CA on July 1, 1927 to George and May Feakes. He was the youngest of three brothers. Richard enlisted in the United States Coast Guard in 1943 and spent nine years serving our country. When he left the military, he received a BA in history from UC Berkeley.
He met Marilyn Bond while attending school and they were married in 1950. They moved to Central Valley in 1956 when Richard started teaching history at Central Valley High School. He later became a counselor at the high school and retired after 31 years in 1987. He was an avid historian and many of the family vacations included historical sites. Richard is preceded in death by his two older brothers and his parents. Richard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marilyn Feakes; his son Michael Feakes (Shelly); daughter Amelia Kitrinos (George); three grandchildren, Hilary Shepherd, Taylor Feakes, and Devin Feakes; and one great granddaughter, Samantha Shepherd. Richard will be missed by family and friends. Services will be held at the Veterans Cemetery in Igo on Thursday, May 20th at 2 p.m.
