George Alumbaugh, 65, of New Castle died Sunday evening in Henry County Memorial Hospital.

A long time New Castle resident, Mr. Alumbaugh retired from Alleghany Ludlum in 1994. He was born February 2, 1931 in Kansas.

He is survived by his wife, Bernice; five daughters, Georgette (husband: Jon) Miles, Terrie (husband: Ernie) Crabtree, Abby Massengale, Tammy (Husband: Gary) Hedges and LaVonna (Husband: Doug) Bell; three sons, John (wife: Lesley) Alumbaugh, Keith (wife Tammy) Blevins and Rusty (wife Adrienne) Cory; and 15 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.

Services are 10 am Wednesday at Marcum-Troxell and Catron Funeral Home with Rev. John Helton officiating. Burial will be in South Mound Cemetery. Friends may call 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. today.
