Lorraine was the dau. of Chalmus and
Effie (Bailey) Glenn. She married
George Freund about 1925. They
were the parents of one child: Jack
Lester b.in 1929.

She and George divorced. George went
to Calif. and died there in 1990.
Lorraine married again to William R.
Smith in 1937.

She was well known in the community
as the founder of the Smith Chenille
and Embroidery Company. She worked
in the company until her retirement
in 1958. At that time, her son,
Jack Freund, took over the company.

She was active in her church and
community. She was a member of the
Atchison Homemaker's Unit at her
church; a member of Martha Washington
Chaper of Eastern Star and was a
charter member of the Atchison Co.
Historical Society.

She enjoyed playing golf and was a
member of the Bellevue Country Club.
She also enjoyed handicraft work
including decoupage, macrame and
tole painting. She enjoyed sewing
for herself and for her grandchildren.
