OBITUARY: Castlen, William Nicholas & Decendents, http://www.castlen.homestead.com/WilliamNicholasCastlen.html. MRS. CASTLEN, CHURCH, CIVIC LEADER, DIES. Mrs. Minnie A. Castlen, 73, a resident of Glendale for 25 years and an active church worker, died yesterday at a Glendale sanitarium. Mrs. Castlen, who resided at 725 East Maple, had made her home in Glendale for 25 years. She was a native of Glencoe, Ontario, Canada.
A charter member of the Glendale Order of Eastern Star, Mrs. Castlen was a member of the W.C.T.U. and had served as treasurer for many years. She also was a member of the Ladies Republican Study Club, past president of the Women's Society of Christian Service of the Broadway Methodist Church, a member of the Glendale Council of Church Women, the Y.W.C.A. and the Red Cross. Mrs. Castlen was also active as a Community Chest worker.
FUNERAL ON MONDAY
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday in the Little Church of the Flowers, with the Forest Lawn Mortuary in charge, Rev. Claude W. Young, pastor of the Broadway Methodist Church, will officiate.
Surviving Mrs. Castlen are two sons, G. Philip Castlen, basketball and tennis coach at Glendale High School, and Donald M. Castlen, circulation manager with the Republican Gazette in Phoenix; two grandchildren, Marjorie Jean Castlen of Glendale, and Keith Bruce Castlen of Coolidge, Ariz.: two sisters, Catherine I. McRae of Glendale and Mrs. Elizabeth Burns of Nanaimo, British Columbia, and two brothers, Richard A. and Albert D. McRae, both of Detroit, Mich.
