Willie Maness

Maness, Willie, 89, husband of Lula Presley Maness, died Wed., June 8, 2005 at Kenton Healthcare.

He was born in Madison County, KY, June 30, 1915, a son of the late James Melvin and Marjorie Taylor Maness. He retired in 1977 after forty-three years with Ky-American Water Company. He was a Kentucky Colonel and honorary Ky. Ambassador and Admiral. He was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association and the Ky. River Mudcats enjoying many years camping, fishing and hunting with friends and family.

In addition to his wife of seventy years, he is survived by five daughters, Jo Ann Rabbass, Patricia Maness, Carolyn (Jack) Spence, Marolyn Adams, and Sandra Hurley; one son, James Wm. (Gwen) Maness; seventeen grandchildren, Arthur Kent (Lynn) Gibson, Karen Diane (Mark) Schneider, Laura Jo (Lee) Baker, Brent Cox, Darren (Terry) Tutt, Lynn Noe, Dana (David) Tankersley, Jack Spence, II, James Wm. (Pat) Justus, Dwayne Allen Eichler, Kenneth Dale (Janene) Eichler, Lisa Mari Eichler, Michelle Lea (Cory) Hewett, Nicki Hurley, Melissa Faye Lewis, Robert Maness, and Jason (Jayme) Maness; twenty-nine great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by two sisters, Marie (Joe) Dunn, and Helen Vickery.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Mabel Perkins and Ollie Maness; two brothers, Troy Maness and Hargus Maness; a grandchild, David Scott Justus; and a son-in-law, Robbie Adams who died June 6, 2005.

Funeral services will be 10:30 am Fri. at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home, Harrodsburg Rd. by Frances Ulrich, Hospice Chaplain. Burial will follow in Blue Grass Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Dewey Whitson, Arthur Everett Gibson, Jack Spence, and grandsons, Kent Gibson, Darren Tutt, Jack Spence, II, Jason Maness, and Mark Schneider.

Visitation will be 6-9 pm Thurs. Special thanks to the staff at Kenton Healthcare for their love and support to "Pappy" and his family. Memorial contributions are suggested to Hospice of the Bluegrass, 2312 Alexandria Dr., Lexington, KY 40504.
