Rose Clara Bettge, 95, of Waco, died Thursday, Aug. 16, 2007, at St. Catherine's Center. Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at St. Louis Catholic Church with the Rev. David Leibham officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. On Saturday morning at St. Louis, just prior to the service, visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and rosary will be recited at 9:45 a.m.

Rose was born in Leroy, Texas, to the late William and Clara Schroeder. She worked at various jobs in the retail business, and her last job was with Clifton-Simpson. Upon retirement, she volunteered with the Ladies of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, and also St. Veronica's Circle at St. Louis Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene George Bettge; and seven brothers and sisters.

She is survived by daughter, Clara Jean Matusik and husband, Harry, of Waco; grandchildren, Jackie Schlatter and husband, Mike, of San Antonio, Rebecca Ann Brown and husband, Spencer, Jr., of Waco, Kathleen Huggins and husband, Gray, of Garland, and Mike Matusik and wife, Debbie, of Austin; eleven great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
