Richard Lee Beauchamp, 67, of Tangent, Oregon died Friday, August 5, 2005 at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center in Corvallis, Ore. He was born on October 11, 1937 in LaPorte, and was the son of Burson and Margaret Folkers Beauchamp. As a small child Richard lived on a dairy farm in Wisconsin, but he was raised in Indiana and graduated from Winamac High School. On September 28, 1961 in Corvallis he married Susan Stevenson; she survives. Richard served 10 years in the U.S. Marine Corps., and was trained at Camp Pendleton, Calif. They lived in California until being stationed in South Carolina. The Beauchamps lived in Chicago for two years before moving to Seattle and the Northwest. They came to the Willamette Valley in the early 70's and currently resided in Tangent. Richard was a truck driver for 40 years, hauling wood products. He had worked for Nix Trucking and Timber By-Products. He especially appreciated family time and his grandchildren. He loved cars and especially buying them. Richard liked working outdoors and camping on the coast and near sisters in Ore. He was a quiet man with a good sense of humor. He enjoyed his dogs and was an avid animal lover. Family members who survive include his wife, Susan L. Beauchamp of Tangent, Ore.; two daughters: Tracy L. Batts of Albany, Ore., and Erica L. Jones of Auburn, Wash.; a brother, Jack Beauchamp of Logansport; a sister, Kay Rose of North Liberty; five grandchildren: Jamie of Conn., Sarah of N.C., and Sydney, Jack, and Leah of Wash.; and four nieces and four nephews. A private family committal will be at Deschutes Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Bend, Ore.
