Obituary - Lillian Harris Blamires, age 87, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, in Clearfield, Utah.
She was born June 28, 1915 in Layton, Utah the daughter of Daniel Dee and Jennie Caroline Anderson Harris. On August 8, 1936 she married Morris Burton Blamires in Ogden, Utah.
Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on April 10, 1944. She attended Layton Elementary School and graduated from Davis High School and the LDS Seminary. She also attended Utah State Agricultural College and later graduated from Idaho State University in Pocatello with a B.A. in English and Speech.
She worked in Ogden as a filing clerk and switchboard operator for Del Monte Canning Corp. In Vale, Oregon she was a bookkeeper for a hardware store and later worked as a secretary to a high school principal.
She was employed as a medical secretary in Pocatello, Idaho; and after going back to college, taught school for 15 years at Alameda Junior High School in Pocatello.
She served in the LDS Church as a Ward Relief Society president, counselor, secretary, class leader and as a ward organist, chorister and M.I.A. president. In the stake she served in the M.I.A. as president, class leader, speech leader and on the activities committee.
She was a stake missionary. She was a past member of the Pocatello Literary Club and Leseforening Literary Club of Layton. At the time of her death, she was a member of Cul de Vel Literary Club.
She was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Joan; three brothers, D. Stanford Harris, Spencer A. Harris and D. Earl Harris.
Surviving are two brothers: L. Dale Harris, Salt Lake City,
Alan L. Harris, Ogden. Also surviving are three sisters: Mrs. Rex (Thelma) Weaver, Fairbanks, Alaska; Mrs. Keith (Lucille) Trane, Provo; and Helen Dillman, Provo; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 28, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist's Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Kayville City Cemetery.
