James A. Bozarth, the son of Oliver Hazard Perry Bozarth and Elizabeth Jane Brooks, was born 8 miles north of Hartford, Ohio County, Kentucky. When he was two years old his parents moved to Grayson County, Kentucky near Leitchfield. There he grew to manhood. He was married his first wife, France E. (?) Bozarth, about the age of 17. They were the parents of an infant son, who was born and died on July 18, 1873. Frances died on December 13, 1874 just 2 days short of her 17th birthday. She and the boy were buried in the Hanging Rock Church Cemetery in Leitchfield, Grayson County, Kentucky. He left Kentucky, and ran a threshing crew in Ohio State, then went to Iowa. James A. was a Cumberland Presbyterian minister. He was ordained to full work of the ministery by the Nolin Presbytery of Greeen River Synod, but was called to Leitchfield Presbytery in October 1887 and he was in full work there in October 1891. He was ordained to preach in 1888. He married Gertrude R. Lasley, daughter of John Lasley and Harriet Williamson, on December 29, 1891 in Hodgensville, Larue County, Kentucky. James A. moved to Campbell, Missouri on December 23, 1907. About 10 years later he moved about 10 miles from Clinton, Missouri, then to Mt. Hebron about 7 miles north of Odessa, Missouri in 1912. They were living in Bates City, Lafayette County, Missouri whre his w wife Gertrude died on November 27, 1934. He died on November 16, 1945 in Campbell, Missouri. They are both buried in the Sunset Hill Cemetery in Warrensburg, Johnson County, Missouri.
