THE HERALD-BANNER, Greenville Texas on April 5 1973

Entered Into Eternal Rest -Wednesday, April 4th, 1973

J Walton Benton, 78, of Rt 3, Greenville, died at 9:30 am Wednesday at his home. Funeral services will be at 2 pm Friday at the Peniel Church of the Nazarene with the Rev. Marvin MCDaniel officiating. Burial will be in Memoryland Cemetery. Born on Sept. 28 1894, in Fannin County, he was the son of Dr J W Benton and Sarah Bales Benton. He married Vera Howard on October 3 1915 in Brownwood TX. Survivors include his wife, Vera of Greenville; two sons, James Benton of Irving and Reginald Howard Benton of Bellflower CA; three daughters, Mrs Marie Rouse of Ardmore Okla, Mrs Doris Emerson of Brea CA and Mrs Betty Endsley of Bedford TX; one brother T H Benton of Ontario CA ; one sister, Mrs Dan Runyan of Bonham; 14 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several neices and nephews.
