Final Services For
Mrs. Bertha Richardson, 96,
beloved and highly esteemed
elderly resident of Sycamore for
over 40 years, passed away Wednesday
afternoon at the local hospital,
where she had been a patient
for 12 days. She had been
to failing health for an extended
She was born in Philadelphia
December 10, 1864, the daughter
of Enos and Polly Kennedy. When
a young child she moved with
her parents to Pella Iowa, later
to Des Moines and in that area,
she grew to mature years, attending
the schools there.
In 1884, she was married to
Edward J. Richardson at Maple
Park. They farmed' in the Richardson
area for a number of
years, later operated a general
store in Richadson, this small
community being named for them,
After they had donated some of
their land to the railroad. Forty
years ago, they moved to Sycamore
to make their home. Mr.
Richardson preceded her in
death a number of years ago.
Mrs. Richardson's life was
lived beautifully and she was
respected by all who knew her.
She was especially devoted to
her home and family, also to
her church, having been a faithful
member of the local Methodist
Church for many years also
of the Quilters Circle.
Surviving are two sons, James
E. of Sycamore and William M.
of Omaha, Neb., also four grandchildren,
12 great grandchildred and one great
great grand Child.
Final rites are to be conducted
from the Coultrip Funeral Home
at 2 p.m. Saturday with Dr.
Allen Regan officiating. Burial
will be in the South Burlington
