L. E. Allmond Dies Thursday
COLORADO CITY – Lon E. Allmond, 78, long-time Colorado City resident, died in a Fort Worth hospital at 10:45 p.m. Thursday, after an illness of more than two weeks.
He was born in Gainesville, March 21, 1854 but had lived in Colorado City from 1906 until a few months ago, when he had gone to Fort Worth to live.
He married Leona Franks Aug. 29, 1907. Mrs. Allmond died in January of this year.
Mr. Allmond was a retired farmer/rancher and member of the First Christian Church. He was Republican county chairman for several years.
Funeral services were held Saturday at 2 p.m. from the Kiker and Son Chapel. Burial was in the Colorado City Cemetery.
He is survived by three sons, Ed Allmond and R. H. Allmond, of Fort Worth, and H. T. Allmond, Odessa; two daughters, Mrs. Q. C. Black, Fort Worth, Mrs. E. L. Ratliff, Dallas; a brother, M. H. Allmond, Colorado City; two sisters, Mrs. Homer Key and Mrs. John Costin, both of Colorado City; and seven grandchildren.
