John William Custard, who would have been 81 years old in November, died about 5:20 Tuesday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Sadie Hunt, 408 Oak Street. He had been seriously ill for the past week. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon at the Wallace Funeral Home. The Rev. B. A. Hanan will officiate and burial will be in the Ebenezer Church Cemetery. Pallbearers, all grandsons, will be Floyd Potts, William Potts, Gene Kinney, Jr., C. M. Davis, Clive Quick, and Alvin Lee Quick. Born on November 27, 1871, east of Fulton, he was the son of the late Davey and Katherine Custard. He was married on Feb. 8, 1892, to the former Miss Gillie Ann Wood, who survives. The couple lived on a farm east of Fulton until about nine years ago until they moved to the daughter's home on Oak Street. He was a member of the U.B. Church for many years and had been a farmer all of his active adult life. In addition to his wife and Mrs. Hunt, he is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Carson Potts, Mrs. Dulcie Burry, and Mrs. Ann Kinney, all of Fulton: four brothers, A. J. Custard, Waterloo, Iowa, Thomas Custard, Butte, Montana, and Cleeve and Leonard Custard, Sunnyside, Washington and a number of grandchildren, nieces and nephews. One son, a daughter, one brother and two sisters preceded him in death.
