George W. Bosley was born in Baltimore, Maryland. In 1861, he enlisted in the first regiment of the Maryland Infantry and served the Union cause. He was promoted to full corporal by the time he mustered out of the army. St Louis became his next destination. He met and married Verona Huffman in northern St Louis county. They lived on a farm on which they raised 6 or more children not to mention the usual assortment of stock and crops.
In 1893, they bought a new 240 acre farm 4 miles west of Montgomery City in Montgomery county, Missouri. They were successful here and built a substantial reputation raising horses and mules. His son, Thomas Burham Bosley continued the family business.
