James Condie Johnson, 91, Martinsville, died at 7:25 p.m. on Aug. 23, 2005, at Morgan Hospital & Medical Center in Martinsville.

The son of the late Guss and Mary Elizabeth (Childress) Johnson, he was born Nov. 22, 1913, in Edmonson County, Ky. His wife, Allie Mae (McGuire) Johnson, whom he married April 1, 1964, survives.

Johnson was a retired self-employed carpet installer from Cave City, Ky. He was also a beekeeper for several years.

He was a member of Beekeepers Association and the Spearsville Road Church of Christ in Trafalgar.

Other survivors include a son, Walter Sturgeon, Franklin; three daughters, Pheriba Hand, Whiteland; Covella Fleetwood-Victor, Spokane, Wa., and Kathy Geralds, Martinsville; sister, Cova England, Horse Cave, Ky.; two brothers, Hollis Johnson, Frankfort, Ky., and Herman Johnson, Lexington, Ky.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren.

A son, Jim Sturgeon; four brothers, Elzie, Spencer, Tobie and Elmo Johnson, and two sisters, Louise and Aline Johnson, also preceded him in death.
