He was a son of Vanirah and Nancy Brown Vance and the husband of Emma Laverty Vance.
He was killed in a gun duel with Oliver Woodward supposedly over a feud regarding cattle.

Gravesite Details

Vanirah stone is hard to read. There may have been a repair to it as the inscription does not face the grave side. It is on the N side of stone. It is hard to get a close up as it is over 6' tall. A better camera than mine would be able to do so.
