Clinton MO - Mrs. Oliver Barnhart died at 2:45 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, 1939, at her home in Urich after about six weeks' illness with the flu from which she suffered a relapse, followed by heart trouble and pneumonia. Her mother had been with her several weeks and Saturday a nurse, Mrs. Florence Lease, of Clinton was called to assist loved ones, who anxiously hoped that medical skill would check the treacherous disease and tide her weakened body past the critical point. Hattie Pearl Orr was born December 7, 1896, in Maries County and there grew to young womanhood. February 24, 1918, she was united in marriage to Oliver Barnhart also of Maries County and about 1920 they moved to Clinton for a year then lived on a farm northwest of Clinton and soon after that moved to western Henry County. About 1922 her parents came to Henry County, and since, the two families have lived in nearby communities. Mr. and Mrs. Barnhart's home has been in Urich about six years. To them were born three sons and a daughter, all of whom survive: Murel, who graduated from the Urich High School last year; Wayne, Betty Jean, the latter of whom is six years old and Donald Lee, who is not quite four. Besides these, she is also survived by her husband and only brother Ray Orr, and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James H. Orr, south of Urich. Mrs. Barnhart united with the Van Cleave Christian Church at the age of 17, later transferred her membership to Deepwater Methodist Church, but since moving to Urich had attended the Christian Church as there was no church of her faith there. She was a devoted wife, a patient, sweet and gentle mother, who ever ministered to their beloved children and was a comfort and blessing to her parents. Tim cannot dim or take away from her loved ones the memory of her sweet Christian life, the courage and patience that were hers. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday at the Urich Christian Church. Burial at White Oak Cemetery.
