John Harold Bommer Jr., 89, of 50 E. Juniper St., Hazleton, died Friday at Hazleton-St. Joseph Medical Center, where he had been a patient since Wednesday.
Born in West Hazleton, he was a son of the late John and Gertrude (Crouse) Bommer Sr.
John was a graduate of Hazleton High School and a veteran of World War II.
He had been employed as a caretaker at Vine St. Cemetery.
He enjoyed sport fishing and gardening and was of the Protestant faith.
Preceding him in death, in addition to his parents, were brothers, Robert and Kenneth Bommer; and a sister, Ruth Reinheimer.
Surviving are his sister, Alice Keuch, Sterling, Va.; and a brother, Donald Bommer, Dunmore. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Friends and family are invited to attend a gravesite service to be conducted by the Rev. Richard D. Abernethy on Thursday at 2 p.m. in St. Johns Lutheran and UCC Cemetery, St. Johns.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Hazle Chapel of Krapf and Hughes Funeral Home Inc., 426 W. Broad St., Hazleton.
