Henrietta L. Wehmeyer
Henrietta Louise Koelling nee Koelling, was born near Case, MO, Oct 1, 1872, as the 8th child of a family of 15 children of the late Fritz Koelling and his wife Elizabeth nee Hodge. She was christened in the Strack's Church.
On March 30, 1892, she was married to Henry E. Wehmeyer of Pinckney, MO. To this union 2 children, Frederick and Caroline were born. Her life was saddened when on April 6, 1895, her husband was claimed by death. On Oct 15, 1896, she was married to her former husband's brother, Herman H. Wehmeyer of Pinckney, MO. To this union 5 sons were born, namely Herman, Henry, Theodore, Victor and Leland. Thew family also took into their home two of Mrs. Wehmeyer's nephews, Virgil and Charles Schaub, after their own mother's death. Charley died on Dec. 28,1921. About 1928 another child Vernita Witthaus, was taken into the home and remained about 10 years. On Nov 1, 1934, Mrs. Wehmeyer's husband died at the family home near Gore, MO. After his death Mrs. Wehmeyer lived with her son's, Henry and Theodore.
Mrs. Wehmeyer had been in ill health for several years with a heart ailment. She became worse about April 1, and seriously on Wednesday, April 9, when she was taken to the St. Francis Hospital at Washington, MO, where she passed away at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, at the age of 79 years, 6 months, and 10 days.
She leaves to mourn her departure, her seven children as follows: Frederick, Caroline (Mrs. Wesley Miller) and Leland of Washington, MO; Herman of Warrenton, MO; Victor, Henry, and Theodore of Gore, MO; one foster son and nephew, Virgil Schaub of Washington, MO; one foster daughter, Mrs Leonard Hackensworth of Lemay, MO; 4 daughters-in-law, one son-in-law, six grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Rose Haferkamp pf St. Louis, MO; 4 brothers, Wm. Koelling of Ft. Smith, Ark., Charles Koelling of Jefferson City, MO, Louis Koelling of Warrenton, MO, and Henry Koelling of Gore, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
he body was taken to the Nieburg Funeral Home in Warrenton, MO, where it remained until; noon Sunday, April 13, when it was taken to Smith Creek Methodist Church, where she was a member. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Wesley Clark officiating. Mr. and Mrs. Orville Schneider of Marthasville sang accompanied by Mrs. Wesley Dothage at the piano. Paul bearers were Emmett and Paul Reinhard, Otto Oetting, Fritz Sieckmann, Elmer Gray, and Ace Cullom. Burial was in the church cemetery.
