F.E. (Chauncey) Depew, 84, of Hoagland, died at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday in Veterans Administration Hospital where he had been a patient one month.
Mr. Depew was a native of Pennsylvania but had lived in the Monroeville-Hoagland area for the past 30 years. He was a veteran of the Spanish-American War, a retired Nickel Plate Railroad employee, and a member of Lodge No. 293 F & A.M.
The body was taken to the Marquart Funeral Home, Monroeville, where friends may call after 7:30 p.m. today.
Surviving are his wife, Margaret; a son, C. Victor, Hoagland; two daughters, Mrs. Harry Kring, Buffalo, and Mrs. Walter Giles, Manhasset, N.Y.; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Elderkins, Legue City, Tex., and Mrs. Dell Stanforth, San Jose, Calif.; a brother, James Depew, Shreveport, La.; and six grandchildren.
Services will be held in the funeral home at 2 p.m. Friday, the Rev. Robert Whitenach officiating. Burial will be in the Monroeville IOOF Cemetery.
