Mercedes A. Cafcules, 53, of
Rt1. Grinnell, died Sunday
afternoon, Jan. 15, at Grinnell
Funeral services were conducted at
10:39 a.m. Wednesday at the United
Church of Christ-Congregational.
The Rev. Philip Ramstad officiated.
Organist was Deanna Acrea, and
soloist was Sherry Shults.
Pallbearers were Bo Battey,
Jay DeYoung, Ed Dieleman, Wayne
Evans, Paul Flatt, Gene Lacaeyse and
Darwin Stepanek. Burial was at
Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith
Funeral Home in charge of arrangments.
Memorials in Mrs. Cafcules' name
may be made to the American Cancer
Socity and left at the funeral home.
The daughter of Edward Krugel (d. July
10, 1979, Antigo,Langlade,Wisconsin) and
Pauline Walker Rock, she was born
Sept. 7, 1930, at Deerfrook, Wis.,
She graduated from Antigo, Wis.,
High School and attended the
University of Wisconsin at Madison.
She was married to William G.
Cafcules on April 28, 1959, in
Chicago. The couple lived in
Watseka, Ill., and operated a
restaurant in Lyndon, Ill. before
coming to Grinnell in 1977 to
operate the Silhouette Restaurant.
She is survived by her husband,

M. Cafcules, a student at Des
Moines Area Community College:
two grandsons: onebrother,
Philip Krugel Sheboygan
Falls, Wis.: one sister, Sheryl
Hoover of Denver Colo.: and her
mother, Pauline Rock of Antigo,
Wis. She is preceded in death by
her father in 1979.
