George W. Day was born December 10, 1864 in Guadalupe County, Texas. He was the son of Thomas Franklin Day and Minnie (Otillia) Altwein Day.
George went to Alaska in the late 1880's or early 1890's. He was away for a long time and was thought dead by his family as there had been a report of some kind of accident in the area where they thought he was. However, to their surprise he unexpectedly returned home one day. George had a wife and child in Tacoma, Washington.
George later married Addie Ivey. They were the parents of eight children, including three sets of twins: Cleveland, Thomas, Benjamin, Elmo, Alma, George, Clara, and Rose. They lived in San Antonio, Texas.
George died March 22, 1955 and is buried in Mission Burial Park, San Antonio, Texas.
